summary: Set a shared limit on how many bookings can run at once, such as seats in a class or bays in a shop, so offerings draw from it instead of from one named person.

In the sidebar, open **Settings**, then choose **Capacity Pools** under **Jobs & Booking**. The page address is `/settings/org/schedule-capacity-pools`. The page heading reads **Capacity pools**.

## Before you start

- You can add pools here at any time, but for an offering to draw from one, capacity pools have to be included in your plan and switched on under Schedule Policies (**Enable capacity pools**). See [[set-up-schedule-policies]].
- A pool is a number, not a person. Use it when it does not matter who does the work, only how many can happen at the same time: four bays, twelve seats, two loaner units.
- Pools belong to the branch selected in the top bar.
- Your role needs permission to create capacity pools. Otherwise **Add capacity pool** is missing.

## Steps

1. Press **Add capacity pool**. A drawer opens.
2. Type a **Name**, such as "Shop bays" or "Safety course seats".
3. Type the **Capacity**: how many bookings the pool can hold at the same moment.
4. **Initial status** is always active. Deactivate it later from the list if you need to.
5. Set the **Timezone** only if the pool runs in a different zone from the organization.
6. Under **Branch**, pick the branch, or leave it with no branch.
7. Add **Notes** if it helps.
8. Under **Working hours**, leave inherited days alone and only change the days when this pool is open at different times from the branch.
9. Press **Create capacity pool**.

## What you see

- The list shows **Name**, **Capacity**, **Status**, **Branch** and **Timezone**. Search with **Search capacity pools**; **Filters** narrows by status and branch.
- Each row has **Edit** and **Deactivate**. A deactivated pool shows **Reactivate** instead.
- **Save changes** in the edit drawer stays disabled until something changes.

## If something looks different

- The list reads **No capacity pools yet.**: nothing has been added for this branch.
- **Capacity pool** is missing from an offering's **Slot type** list: capacity pools are not on your plan, or **Enable capacity pools** is off in Schedule Policies.
- Depending on your organization's reason rules, deactivating may first ask you to confirm and give a reason. Past bookings against the pool stay on record.
- A deactivated pool has gone from the list: **Filters** starts on **Active only**. Change **Status** to see it.
- An offering should draw from the pool: see [[create-an-offering]] and add a slot with **Slot type** set to **Capacity pool**.
