When the company needs your signature, it emails you a signing request. Its subject is "Please sign:" followed by the agreement's title, and its button is "Review and sign". Some companies also send it by text, saying the company "sent" the agreement "for signature", with a link after "Open:".

## Steps

1. Open the email and select "Review and sign". The agreement opens in your browser; you do not need a portal account.
2. If the page asks, type your email and the verification code it sends you. See [[verification-code-messages]].
3. Read the agreement, sign it, and finish. See [[sign-an-agreement]].

## What you see

- The request says when the signing link expires, 7 days after sending unless the company set another time.
- If you have not signed, the company can send the same request again as a reminder, for example every few days, up to a limit it chooses.
- After you sign, you get “You signed” and the title, confirming your signature was recorded. If others still have to sign, the finished document comes once they all have.
- When everyone has signed, you get “Your signed copy of” and the title, with the completed agreement PDF attached. Keep it for your records.
- If the agreement is declined, cancelled or runs out, you get an email whose subject starts "Agreement declined:", “Signing request cancelled:” or “Time to sign”.

## If something looks different

- If you ignore the request, the agreement stays unsigned and the link runs out. Work tied to it, such as an approved quote, may wait until it is signed.
- The link says it expired or no longer works: ask the company to send a new one.
- The email warns not to forward it: the link is personal to you. Forward it and someone else could sign in your name.
- You were not expecting it: the email says you can ignore it. Contact the company if you are unsure.
- To stop signing reminders, ask the company. See [[stop-emails-and-texts-from-a-company]].
