In the sidebar, open **Accounts**, then **All Accounts**. The page addresses are `/accounts`, `/leads` and `/customers`. Archiving keeps the account's contacts, locations, documents and history; it only takes the account out of pickers and active lists.

## Before you start

- To archive, your admin has to give your role the **Archive accounts** permission. Without it, **Archive** is not in the row's menu.
- To see archived accounts and bring one back, your role needs the **Restore accounts** permission. Without it, archived accounts are hidden from you entirely.

## Steps

1. Find the account in the list (see [[find-leads-and-customers]]).
2. Open the menu at the end of its row and choose **Archive**.
3. The **Archive account?** dialog explains what happens. Depending on your organization's policy it may also ask for a reason; fill in what it asks for, then press **Archive account**.

Already on the account? Open the **Actions** menu (⋯); **Archive account** is the last item, in red, and opens the same dialog.

To restore an account:

1. Press **Archived** at the top of the list, next to **List** and **Map**. The list switches to archived accounts, newest first.
2. Press **Restore** at the end of the row. **Restore this account?** asks you to confirm (and, depending on your organization's policy, for a reason); press **Restore account**.

## What you see

- After archiving, the account disappears from the active list and Nova shows a short confirmation naming the account.
- In the archived list, each row shows the date it was archived. **View** in the row menu opens the account so you can still read every tab on it. A banner at the top says it is archived; nothing on it can be changed except notes until it is restored. If your role can restore accounts, the banner has a **Restore account** button, and **Restore account** is also first in the **Actions** menu (⋯).
- After restoring, the account is back in **All Accounts** with the lifecycle status it had before.
- Press **Archived** again (or **Show active accounts** in its tooltip) to return to the active list.

## If something looks different

- **Archive** is missing from the menu. Your role cannot archive accounts.
- **Archived** is missing from the top of the list. Your role cannot restore accounts, so archived accounts are not shown to you.
- You pressed **Archived** on All Leads or All Customers and the page moved to All Accounts. That is expected: the archived list always lives on All Accounts.
- **No archived accounts.** means nothing has been archived.
