In the sidebar, open **Operations**, then **Work Orders**, open the work order, and press the **Planning** tab. The page address is `/work-orders/` followed by the work order and `/planning`.

A work order's plan lists the spots the work needs, for example one technician and one crew, or a vehicle. The work type you pick sets these spots ([[edit-a-work-order]]). Each spot is filled on this tab.

## Before you start

- Seeing the plan needs permission to view the schedule. Filling spots needs permission to assign scheduled work.
- The work order needs a date and time before the plan can be checked or committed ([[reschedule-a-work-order]]).

## Steps

1. Under **Fulfillment plan**, find the spot. Its badge shows the role and slot number, and a chip shows its state, such as **Unassigned**, **Assigned** or **Conflict**.
2. In the spot's **Assign** field, type and pick the technician, crew, capacity pool or equipment unit. Only people and crews with the skills the work type needs are offered. To clear a spot, clear the field.
3. Your pick saves straight away and Nova says **Plan slot updated.**
4. If your organization commits plans by hand, two more buttons sit beside **Fulfillment plan**. Press **Validate plan**: Nova says **Plan is valid.** or **Plan has conflicts.**, and each spot shows its conflicts. Then press **Commit plan** to put the plan on the Schedule. Nova says **Plan committed.** If it clashes with other bookings, **Override scheduling conflicts?** asks for a reason first.

## What you see

- **Schedule context** lists the upcoming visits with their time, **Assignment** and **Arrival window**. **Edit** on the first visit opens **Change date/time**. **Open in Schedule** opens the Schedule on this work order.
- **People and Assignment** shows everyone assigned from the schedule and the plan, marked **Schedule** or **Plan**. Its **Project** field links the work order to one of the customer's projects.
- A spot with **Dispatch blocked** or **Readiness warning** has a note under it, for example about equipment that is not ready, with **Open asset** to check it.

## If something looks different

- **No fulfillment slots configured yet.**: the work order has no work type, or its work type has no spots. **Add schedule offerings** opens the settings where an admin sets them up.
- **Validate plan** and **Commit plan** are missing: that is normal. Nova commits the plan on its own unless your organization turned on manual commits in its scheduling settings. **Commit plan** also needs permission to assign work.
- Nova asks you to schedule the work order before validating: give it a date and time first.
- **No eligible assignments available.**: nobody fits the spot. Add a resource or crew from the create option at the bottom of the list, or check the work type's skills.
- **Planning** is missing: your role can neither view the schedule nor link projects, or an admin hid the tab.
