In the sidebar, open **Operations**, then **Availability**, then **Time Off & Availability**. The page address is `/schedule/availability/calendar`. When you open an item, its own reference is added to the end of the address, so a copied link opens that item again.

## Before you start

- A block or an available override can be changed or deleted by anyone whose role manages availability, the same people who can add one.
- A request can be changed or cancelled by the person who asked for it, and by the managers who review requests.
- Approved time off is still a request. You take it off the schedule by cancelling the request, not by deleting a block.

## Steps

To change the dates:

1. On the calendar, click the item. A panel opens with the item's name as its title.
2. Check the **Current Item** card: it shows the **Assignment** (whose lane it is on), the **Status** and the **Window**.
3. Set a new **Start date** and **End date**. The end date is included. For part of a day, turn **All day** off and set **Start** and **End**.
4. Change any other field you see, such as **Leave Type**, **Public Label** or **Internal Note**. Which fields show depends on your role.
5. Press **Save changes**.

To remove it:

1. Click the item to open it.
2. For a request, you can type a note first: **Review Note** when it is someone else's, **Reason for cancelling** when it is yours.
3. Press **Cancel request** for a request, or **Delete block** for a block or an available override. Nova does it straight away; there is no second question.

## What you see

- A changed block moves on the calendar at once. The Schedule treats the new time as blocked, or as open for an available override.
- If you change the dates of an approved request and its leave type needs approval, it goes back to **Pending**. The time stops being blocked on the Schedule until someone approves it again.
- A cancelled request stays on record with a **Cancelled** status, and its time is free again on the Schedule. Nova lets the person know; when you cancel your own, it tells the managers who review requests instead.
- A deleted block disappears from the calendar.
- Under **Direct link**, **Open this request directly** (or **Open this item directly**) opens the item at its own address, handy for sharing it with a colleague.

## If something looks different

- There is no **Save changes** button: the request is **Denied** or **Cancelled**, and a closed request cannot be changed. Add a new one instead. The button is also missing when your role cannot change this kind of item.
- **Approve** and **Deny** show as well: the request is waiting and your role reviews requests. See [[review-time-off-requests]].
- A holiday opens with an amber note and no **Save changes** button: holidays come from the holiday calendar. Press **Create override request** to ask for that day to be workable, or **Add manual override** to open it straight away.
- The item is a closure: the button reads **Delete closure**. See [[add-a-closure]].
- **Workflow** shows at the top of the panel: leave it as it is. Changing it does not turn an existing item into another kind. Remove the item and add a new one instead.
- The panel says a note exists but is hidden: your role cannot read that note.
- The address ends in `/new`: that is the form for adding an item. See [[add-time-off-for-a-team-member]] or [[request-time-off]].
