Select your name at the top right of the portal, then **Change your password**. The page address ends in `/password`. You can also get here from **Account information**.

## Before you start

- You need your current password. If you have forgotten it, sign out and use **Forgot password?** on the sign-in page instead. See [[get-back-into-the-portal]].

## Steps

1. Type **Your current password**. Select **Show** to check what you typed.
2. Type a **New password**. The meter under the field shows how strong it is, and the note under it lists what the company requires. Longer is stronger.
3. Type the new password again under **Type it again**. The page tells you when both match.
4. Select **Change password**. Select **Cancel** to leave without changing it.

## What you see

- The page confirms the change and returns you to **How you sign in**.
- You stay signed in on this device. Everywhere else you were signed in is signed out, so anyone with your old password is locked out.

## If something looks different

- **Change password** is greyed out: one of the three fields is still empty.
- The message names a rule the new password breaks, or says the two new passwords don't match: fix the new password and select **Change password** again.
- The message says your current password is wrong: type it again, using **Show** to check it.
- The message says too many tries: wait a few minutes and try again.
- The page sent you back to the **Overview**: you opened the portal from a link to one document, so there is no password to change. Sign in with your username first.
