In the sidebar, open **Settings**, then choose **Price Books** under **Sales & Billing**. The page address is `/settings/org/billing/pricing-rules`. The page is titled **Scoped Pricing & Price Books**.

## Before you start

- A price book is a set of pricing rules that apply in one situation: a branch, one customer, a contract, an agreement, or the whole organization. Nova checks the books that match a line and applies the winning rule.
- This page is for base prices only. Money off goes in **Discounts**; see [[create-a-discount]].
- Your role needs the permission to manage price books and pricing rules. Without it the page is read-only.

## Steps

1. Press **New price book**. A panel titled **Commercial pricing workspace** opens; press **New price book** inside it.
2. Type a **Name** such as `Downtown branch pricing`. **Currency** is fixed to your organization's currency.
3. Pick a **Scope type** (**Organization**, **Branch**, **Account**, **Contract**, **Agreement** and others) and, for anything narrower than the organization, a **Scope value** naming which branch, customer or contract.
4. Set **Priority** if two books could match the same line; a higher number wins. Set **Effective start** and **Effective end** if the book only applies for a period.
5. Tick **Organization default book** if this is the book Nova should use when nothing narrower matches.
6. Press **Create price book**. Nova shows **Price book created.**
7. Under **Rules**, press **Add rule**. A panel titled **New pricing rule** opens.
8. Type a **Rule name** and pick what it targets: an **Offering** (a service), an **Inventory item** (a part), or a **Catalog entity type**. A rule needs at least one target.
9. Choose a **Price method**: **Fixed price** with a **Unit price**, or **Markup** or **Margin** as a percentage over the cost in **Markup / margin %**.
10. Optionally narrow it with **Minimum quantity** and **Maximum quantity**, **Effective start** and **Effective end**, extra **Scopes** (press **Add scope**), or **Conditions** such as **Weekend**, **After hours** or **Quantity tier** (press **Add condition**).
11. Press **Create rule**. Nova shows **Pricing rule created.**

## What you see

- The list shows each **Price Book**, its **Scope**, its **Status** and when it was **Updated**. Press a row to open the workspace for that book. Under **Filters**, narrow by **Status** or **Scope Type**.
- Inside the workspace, **Rules** lists every rule in the book. Press **Edit** on a rule to change it, or the **Edit book** button to change the book itself.
- **Runtime preview and explainer** lets you describe a line (**Offering** or **Inventory item**, **Quantity**, **Account**, **Branch**) and press **Run preview**. The **Preview result** shows the price Nova would charge and which rule won, across every active book, not only this one.
- A warning at the top of a rule or book means it overlaps another one. Nova still saves it; check the **Priority**.

## If something looks different

- **New price book** or **Add rule** is missing and the workspace reads **Read-only access**: your role can look but not change. Ask your admin.
- **Create rule** is greyed out: the book's currency does not match the organization's. Books left over from an older currency are read-only.
- The rule refuses with a message about a target: pick an **Offering**, an **Inventory item** or a **Catalog entity type**.
- You want to lower a price for a promotion or a code: press **Open Discount Management** at the top of the page instead.
