In the sidebar, open **Operations**, then **Work Orders**, and open the work order. Press **Actions**, then **Edit work order**. The edit page address is `/work-orders/` followed by the work order and `/edit`.

For a single change you do not need the full page: the **Actions** menu also has **Change priority**, **Change service location** and **Add customer PO** (or **Edit customer PO**). Each opens a small panel with its own save button.

## Before you start

Your role needs permission to update work orders. Without it, **Edit work order** and the quick changes are hidden.

## Steps

1. Under **Details**, change what you need:
   - **Project**: link the work order to one of this customer's projects.
   - **Work Order**: the work order number. It may be locked once the work order exists.
   - **Dispatch title**: what your team sees on the Schedule. Leave it blank for an automatic title.
   - **Internal notes**: for your team only.
   - **Customer summary**: the short description the customer sees.
   - **Customer PO number**: the reference the customer's office wants on your invoice.
2. Under **Work type**, press **Change**, pick a work type, read **Review changes** (what **Will update** and what **Will keep**), then press **Apply work type**. The work type is applied straight away, before you save the page.
3. Under **Status & location**, set the **Status**, the **Priority**, the **Branch** and the **Service location**.
4. Under **Service Assets**, pick the **Primary Service Asset** and any **Related Service Assets**: the customer's equipment this visit is for.
5. Fill in **Additional details** if your organization has its own fields.
6. Press **Save changes**. Nova takes you back to the work order.

## What you see

- The customer account is shown but cannot be changed. A work order stays with its customer.
- **Assignments** are not edited here. Use **Change assignment** on the work order ([[change-a-work-order-assignment]]); to move the date or time, see [[reschedule-a-work-order]].
- With **Change service location**, pick a location or add a new one with **Save and use location**, then press **Apply location**. If the old site had equipment linked to the work order, Nova warns that it will be cleared.
- With **Change priority**, pick **Low**, **Normal**, **High** or **Urgent** and press **Save priority**.
- With the customer PO panel, type the number and press **Save customer PO**.

## If something looks different

- **Work order ID already in use**: another work order has that number. Take the suggested number or type another.
- The work type cannot be changed: work types are off for your organization, or your role cannot change scheduling plans.
- Choosing another **Branch** adds **Why is it moving?**: the move is recorded with your reason. Your role needs permission to move work between branches, and the field only shows when your organization has several branches.
- Leaving with unsaved changes asks whether to save first. Press the save option to keep your changes.
