In the sidebar, open **Sales & Billing**, then **Quotes**, and open the quote from the list. The screen that checks a quote before it goes out opens at an address ending in `/review/send`, `/review/approval` or `/review/signature`, one for each way the quote can reach the customer. This article covers the signature way; the other two are in [[send-a-quote]].

## Before you start

- The quote needs a customer and at least one line, and it has to still be waiting for the customer's answer.
- Your role needs permission to ask customers for approval, and to see agreement templates and create, edit and issue agreements. Without them **Create signature agreement** is greyed out and the screen explains why.
- The person signing needs an email address. Signature requests always go by email.

## Steps

1. Open the actions menu (the three dots at the top of the quote), press **See more**, and choose **Create signature agreement**. The review screen opens with **Create signature agreement** already chosen under **Quote delivery workflow**.
2. Under **Approver**, choose the person who will sign. The customer's own contacts are listed first. The line underneath confirms that this person will receive the signature agreement request.
3. Press **Create signature agreement** at the bottom of the screen.
4. Nova creates an agreement draft linked to the quote and opens it. A draft quote stays a draft until the request goes out to the customer; from then on its number and price are fixed.
5. On the agreement, check the wording and the signature fields, then send it for signing. See [[create-an-agreement]].

## What you see

- Nova confirms "Signature agreement draft created." Nothing reaches the customer until you send the agreement.
- The agreement is named after the quote number, followed by the word approval.
- If no agreement template is configured, Nova prepares a PDF from the quote. Wait for its document checks and preview to finish; then review the signature, name and date fields assigned to your chosen approver before sending.
- When the customer signs, Nova records the quote as approved, and the quote's status chip reads **Approved**. Follow the signing in [[track-agreement-signing]].
- While the request is open, the quote's **Manage** panel shows it. To nudge the customer or call it off, see [[remind-resend-or-cancel-a-customer-approval]].

## If something looks different

- **Create signature agreement** is missing from the menu or greyed out under **Quote delivery workflow**: your role is missing one of the agreement permissions, or the quote already has an answer.
- Nova says to choose an approver: pick someone under **Approver**, or add an email address to the customer's contact first. See [[add-a-contact-to-an-account]].
- You only need a click to approve, not a signature: choose **Send for approval** instead. See [[send-a-quote]].
- The customer said yes on the phone: you do not need a signature to record it. See [[record-a-customers-decision-on-a-quote]].
