In the sidebar, open **Operations**, then **Schedule**. Press **Filters**, set the type filter to **Lodging** or **Rental**, then press **Open** on a booking's hover card, or switch the Schedule to **List**. A reservation opens at an address starting with `/lodging/` and its heading reads **Lodging Reservation**; a rental opens at an address starting with `/rentals/` and its heading reads **Rental**.

## Before you start

Your admin has to give your role permission to read bookings to open one, permission to change bookings to edit it, and permission to cancel bookings to cancel it. Controls you lack are greyed out or missing.

## Steps

To update the details:

1. In **Lodging details** change the **Guest count**, **Reservation reference**, **Check-in time**, **Check-out time**, **Description** or **Notes**. On a rental, **Rental details** holds the **Pickup time**, **Dropoff time**, **Renter name** and **Renter contact** instead.
2. Press **Save changes**.

To mark arrival and departure (there is no separate check-in button):

1. Under **Status**, pick **Started** when the guest arrives or the unit is collected, **Completed** when they leave or it comes back, or **No show**.
2. Press **Save status**.

To cancel:

1. Press **Cancel reservation** or **Cancel rental** at the top.
2. Pick a **Reason category** and add a note if Nova asks, then confirm with the same button. The booking is cancelled, taken off the schedule, and its room or unit is free again.

## What you see

- **Booking details** shows the offering, the account (a link to it), **Status**, **Conflicts**, **Start**, **End**, the check-in or pickup times, and the reservation's hold state (**Reservation state**, or **Booking state** on a rental).
- **Assigned rooms** or **Assigned units** shows what is being held.
- **Operational line items** lists extra charges; **Add line item** adds one.
- **Billing drafts** turns the booking into a quote or invoice with **Create quote draft** or **Create invoice draft**. **Billing summary** shows charges, invoices, **Deposits required** and **Payment history**, with **Collect payment**, and **Apply to invoice** for a deposit or credit.
- The billing summary includes documents linked through an individual booking line, even when one document covers several bookings. The billable-item list shows only this booking’s items.
- **Customer messages** has switches for this booking's automatic messages (they save as soon as you change them) and lists what is coming up and what was sent. **Automation details** opens the lodging or rental automation hub (see [[review-lodging-rental-and-activity-automation]]).
- **Workspace** holds notes and files; **Booking checklists** tracks turnover work, with **Create booking checklist**.
- **New reservation** or **New rental** at the top starts another booking.

## If something looks different

- A booking that repeats shows a **Series** box. Use **Edit this occurrence** or **Edit this and future** to change dates and times, then **Save changes**; use **Cancel this occurrence** or **Cancel this and future** to cancel. A one-off reservation or rental has no date fields on this page.
- **Discard draft** shows instead of the cancel button: the booking is still a draft. Discarding removes it from the schedule and keeps it in the history.
- **Older offering configuration** appears: the offering changed after this was booked. Date changes are locked until someone presses **Migrate booking**; details can still be saved.
- **Override conflicts?** opens when you save new dates: they clash with another booking. Fill in the **Reason category** and **Business explanation** if Nova asks; **Override & save** keeps the dates anyway.
- The **Booking** number field is locked: it can only change while the booking is an internal draft.
- You opened a rental from a reservation address: Nova switches to the rental page by itself.
