In the sidebar, open **Operations**, then **Availability**, then **Time Off & Availability**. The page address is `/schedule/availability/calendar`. The same form is on **My Time Off** under your profile (`/profile/time-off`).

## Before you start

Your role needs permission to submit availability requests. Your request lands on your own schedule; if you need to enter time off for someone else, see [[add-time-off-for-a-team-member]].

## Steps

1. Press **Request time off**. The **Request Time Off** panel opens and reminds you that your manager approves it before it goes on the schedule.
2. Under **Type of time off**, choose the kind of leave. The **Your time off remaining** card shows what you can request, what is still waiting for approval, and the total left.
3. Set **Start date** and **End date**. Your last day is included.
4. Need only part of a day? Open **Pick times or add a note**, turn **All day** off, then set **Start** and **End**.
5. Under **Note for your manager**, add anything they should know. This is optional.
6. Press **Submit request**.

## What you see

The request appears on your calendar with a **Pending** chip. Open it any time to see its **Status** and **Window**. Once your manager decides, the chip changes to **Approved** or **Denied**, and approved time off blocks that time on the Schedule.

If your plans change, open the request and press **Cancel request**. You can add a **Reason for cancelling** first.

## If something looks different

- The button reads **Add time off**: your role manages availability for others. See [[add-time-off-for-a-team-member]].
- The card says no types are set up for you yet: no leave policy is assigned to you. Send the request anyway; your manager can still approve it.
- The card shows an amber warning: this type needs review before it can be approved, usually because the request is longer than what you have left.
- **Request time off** is missing: your role cannot submit requests. Ask your admin.
