In the sidebar, open **Sales & Billing**, then **Counter Sales (POS)**, then **Register Reports**. The page address is `/pos/reports`. The page heading reads **Store operations and reporting**.

## Before you start

- Each section needs its own permission (sales, receipts, returns, registers, cash, approvals). A section you cannot see is hidden rather than empty.

## Steps

1. Under **Filters**, set the two dates for the period you want, and narrow to one branch with **All branches** or one register with **All registers**. Press **Reset** to clear them.
2. Read the four totals: **Net Sales**, **Returns**, **Cash Variance** and **Pending Approvals**.
3. Under **Sales Performance**, pick how to break sales down: **By Store**, **By Register**, **By Cashier**, **By Hour**, **By Item** or **By Category**. The table shows count, gross and discount for each row.
4. Check **Cash Variance** for any register session that closed over or short, and **Store-Day Closeouts** for the counted cash, cash sales, drops and no-sale opens of each session.
5. Check **Operational Exceptions** for failed payments, declined approvals, unusual closeouts and no-receipt returns.
6. Under **Operational History**, pick the **History type** (**Sales**, **Receipts**, **Returns**, **Exchanges**, **Register Sessions**, **Cash Movements** or **Manager Approvals**), type into **Search reference number, customer, register, or note**, and press a row to see it. Press **Export CSV** to download the list for a spreadsheet.

## What you see

- **Control Reports** groups the audit views: **Tax Summary**, **Return Reasons**, **Discount Overrides** and **Manager Approvals**.
- Pressing a sale in **Operational History** fills **Sale Detail** with its lines, tenders and receipt. From there, **Open receipt** jumps to the receipt and **Start return / exchange** begins a return.
- The **Lane**, **Receipts** and **Returns** buttons at the top jump to the other POS pages.
- Saved views keep a date range and filters you use often.

## If something looks different

- The totals are all zero: no register has taken a sale in the selected dates or branch. Widen the dates.
- **Cash Variance** shows no rows: no session closed over or short in this period. That is good news.
- **Export CSV** is greyed out: the history list is empty. Widen the dates or change the **History type**.
