In the portal's sidebar, open **Agreements**, then select **Review and sign** on the agreement (**Open signing task** for an agreement the company uploaded as a PDF). The page address ends in `/agreements/sign`. The "Review and sign" button in the company's email opens the same signing steps in your browser, at an address that starts with `/agreements/sign`; you do not need to sign in to the portal first unless the company requires it. See [[agreement-signing-messages]].

## Before you start

- The step bar at the top shows **Begin** until the document opens, then **Review** and **Finish**. For an agreement the company uploaded as a PDF, the steps after that are **Signature**, **Fields** and **Finish**.
- Have the email address the agreement was sent to. The page may ask for it, or for a code it emails you, before the document opens.

## Steps

1. If asked, type **Your email**, the address the agreement was sent to, then select **Let's begin**. If the page then asks for a **Verification code**, type the code it emailed you and select **Verify code**. Select **Send another code** if it did not arrive.
2. Under **Review the agreement**, read the document. Select **Next** in the step bar at the top when you are done.
3. Under **Choose your signature**, pick **Typed signature** (your name is filled in; correct it if needed), or **Draw signature** and draw with your mouse or finger. Approving or acknowledging an agreement needs no signature, so this part is skipped.
4. Under **Before you finish**, select **Tap to confirm** on each check: **I consent to electronic signing or acknowledgement.**, **I reviewed this agreement.** and **I am the intended signer or approver.**
5. Add **Initials** if you like.
6. Select **Finish signing**. Depending on what the company asked for, the button may read **Finish approval**, **Finish acceptance** or **Finish acknowledgement**.

For an uploaded PDF, the **Signature** step asks you to save a signature first with **Save and continue**, then **Fields** guides you through each highlighted field with **Next**. Select **Continue to finish** when only optional fields are left.

## What you see

- **Signature recorded**: your part is done. Other signers may still need to sign.
- **Agreement complete**: everyone has signed. Select **Download signed agreement** or **Open PDF**, or download it later from [[see-your-agreements]].
- If a deposit is tied to the agreement, the agreement page shows **Deposit required** with a **Pay required deposit** button.

## If something looks different

- **Finish signing** stays greyed out: a check under **Before you finish** is not confirmed, or no signature is set. The note under the button says what is missing.
- You do not want to sign: open **Other options**, select **Decline agreement**, type a **Reason** and confirm. The company sees your reason. This cannot be undone from the portal. **Other options** is missing when the company does not allow declining online; contact them instead.
- The page says the session expired or was revoked: the link is no longer valid. Ask the company for a new one.
- **Portal session required.**: the company requires you to be signed in to the portal for this agreement. Sign in first, then open the link again.
- **Verification code required.**: select **Send another code** to have a code emailed to you, then type it under **Verification code** and select **Verify code**. Use the most recent code if you asked for more than one.
