In the sidebar, open **Intake**, then **Inbox**. The page address is `/intake/inbox/` followed by the submission. The submission opens on its **Overview** tab with the customer's details in the left rail and the controls in the main area.

## Before you start

- Reading a submission needs inbox access. Changing its status needs permission to manage submissions; assigning needs the assign permission; changing moderation needs the moderate permission. A control your role lacks is greyed out.
- Nova's routing rules may already have created an account, a ticket or a task from the submission. Check the **Routing & conversion** tab before doing it by hand.

## Steps

1. Read the left rail: the form, publication, source, when it was **Received**, and the sender's **Name**, **Email**, **Phone** and **Company**.
2. Under **Workflow controls**, change the status. Either press one of the quick buttons (**Triage**, **In review**, **Waiting on submitter**, **Qualified**) or choose a **Status** from the list, type a **Reason**, and press **Apply status**.
3. To take the submission yourself, press **Claim now**. To give it to someone else, choose them under **Assign to**, add a **Reason** and press **Apply assignment**. **Unassign** clears it.
4. If a genuine request was flagged as spam, press **Mark clean**, or choose a **Moderation state** and press **Apply moderation**. If Nova quarantined an attachment, the **Attachments** tab shows why and lets you ask for a rescan.
5. Add an internal note on **Notes & tags**. Some organizations require a note or an attachment before a submission can be closed or converted; the page tells you when that is the case.
6. Open **Routing & conversion** to see what was created downstream, resolve a possible duplicate customer, and check the notifications and confirmations that were sent.

## What you see

- Tabs: **Overview**, **Notes & tags**, **Attachments**, **Checklists**, **Submitted values**, **Attribution**, **Timeline** and **Routing & conversion**. You can reorder or hide them with the saved-views control.
- **Submitted values** shows exactly what the customer typed. **Attribution** shows where they came from (the page, the referrer, any campaign). **Timeline** shows every status, assignment and moderation change with its reason.
- **Back to inbox** returns to the list with your filters intact. **Open public surface** opens the page the customer used.

## If something looks different

- The quick status buttons are greyed out: your role cannot manage submission status, or a change is already saving.
- **Routing & conversion** reads that conversion is blocked until attachments are trusted: a file is still being scanned or was quarantined. Handle it on **Attachments** first.
- Nothing was created from the submission: the form's **Routing Rules** and **Outcome Rules** decide that. See [[create-an-intake-form]]. You can still create the account yourself; see [[create-an-account]].
