In the sidebar, open **Accounts**, then **Service Assets**, and press **View** on a row. You can also open one from a customer's **Service Assets** tab or from a work order. The page address is `/service-assets/` followed by the asset and the tab you are on. It is laid out like every record page (see [[find-your-way-around-a-record]]).

## What you see

- The summary strip: the **Primary identifier** (for example the serial number), the **Account**, the **Service location** and the **Profile**.
- The details panel on the left:
  - **Service asset details**: account, location, profile, **Manufacturer**, **Primary contact**, and when it was **Installed**, **Removed** and **Updated**.
  - **Identifiers**: every serial number, tag or other number on file.
  - **Relationships**: other equipment it belongs to or contains, such as a coil inside an air handler.
  - **Additional details**: your organization's own fields.

## The tabs

- **Overview**: **Core context** with tags, **Origin and references** (the install, sale or stock record it came from), **Recent work orders** that targeted it, and **Recent bookings**.
- **History**: every change to the asset, its identifiers, relationships and origins. Filter by type and by outcome, and press **Load more** for older entries.
- **Checklists**: inspections and quality checks for this unit ([[run-a-checklist-on-a-record]]).
- **Notes** and **Files**: notes, manuals and photos of the plate ([[add-a-note-to-a-record]], [[attach-a-file-to-a-record]]).
- **Activity**: recent events on the asset ([[read-a-record-activity-history]]).

## Steps

To link related equipment:

1. Under **Relationships**, press **Add relationship**.
2. Pick the **Related Service Asset** (it must belong to the same customer), then the **Relationship direction**: **This asset is the main / parent equipment** or **This asset belongs under the related equipment**.
3. Choose the **Relationship type** (**Contains**, **Attached to**, **Paired with**, **Depends on** or **Installed on**) and **Relationship status**, add dates and **Notes** if useful, then press **Add Service Asset relationship**.

To edit the asset, press **Actions**, then **Edit Service Asset**. The same form as a new asset opens at `/service-assets/` followed by the asset and `/edit` ([[track-a-service-asset]]). Change what you need and press **Save Service Asset**. Nova takes you back to the asset.

## The Actions menu

- **Back to Service Assets**, **Add note** and **Upload file**.
- **Open account** and **Open location** jump to the customer and the address.
- **Track related Service Asset** starts a new asset with the same customer, location and contact filled in.
- **Edit Service Asset**, and **Export Service Asset**, which downloads this asset's record as a file.
- **Customize tabs** ([[customize-tabs-on-one-record]]).
- **Archive Service Asset**, last and in red: the asset stays in history but active work should stop using it. An archived asset offers **Restore Service Asset** instead.

## If something looks different

- **History**, **Checklists** or **Activity** is missing: your role cannot see that information, or an admin hid the tab.
- **Edit Service Asset**, **Export Service Asset** or **Archive Service Asset** is missing: your role lacks that permission.
- **Invalid Service Asset link.**: the address is incomplete or the asset no longer exists. Open it again from the list.
