Approve or decline an agent's request

When an AI teammate, a key or a connected app tries something that needs a person, it waits under Approvals; read what it wants to do, then approve or decline it with a note.

In the sidebar, open Administration, then choose AI Teammates under Team & Access, then the Approvals tab. The page address is /settings/org/ai-teammates?tab=approvals. The same inbox is also a tab on API & Connected Apps under Integrations & API, because a key or a connected app can be waiting in it too.

Most of what waits here is your organization's choice: anything listed under Ask a person first on a key or an AI teammate waits here each time it is used. The only thing Nova always holds back is a high-stakes action that would make a person confirm it is really them, such as changing where payouts are deposited: software cannot confirm who it is, so a person approves it here. The accountable person and the organization's admins get a notification, and the action only happens once someone approves it.

Before you start

Your admin has to give your role the permission to decide approvals. Anyone with the permission to read approvals can see the list.

Steps

1. Leave the filter on Waiting for a decision. Each card shows a summary of what the agent or app wants to do, who asked (the agent, or the app and who it works as), the action, when it was asked and when the request expires.
2. Read the request. If the details are not what you expect, do not approve it.
3. Press Approve or Decline. A dialog asks you to confirm.
4. Under Note (optional), say why. The agent's owner can see the note.
5. Press Approve or Decline again to confirm. Nova shows a message: the agent can carry on, or the agent will not do this.

What you see

• An approval is for one exact request. The agent has to repeat the same action to use it; a different amount or a different record starts a new request.
• A request expires three days after it was asked, whether or not anyone answered or used it.
• Switch the filter to Approved, Declined or Everything to see past decisions and who made them.
• Nothing is waiting on you means the queue is empty.

If something looks different

• Approve and Decline are missing: your role can read approvals but not decide them.
• The same request keeps coming back: the teammate or app is retrying. Decline it, then look at its roles or pause it. See Pause or retire an AI teammate.
