Connect ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant to Nova

Let an outside assistant work in Nova as you: start the connection from the assistant, tick what it may do on Nova's Connect an app page, choose the organization, and press Allow.

The connection starts in the assistant, not in Nova. When the assistant sends you to Nova, the Connect an app page opens at /connect/authorize. Afterwards, the connection is listed under your profile at /profile/connected-apps, on the Connected apps tab.

The assistant works as you. It can only ever do what you can do yourself, and only the things you tick. A few high-stakes actions that would make a person confirm it is really them wait under Approvals for a person to approve instead, because an assistant cannot confirm who it is.

Before you start

• AI has to be turned on for your organization. If it is not, the page tells you and Allow stays off.
• In the assistant, add Nova as a connector or an integration. When it asks for a server address, use your Nova address followed by /mcp, for example https://app.novabmp.com/mcp. The assistant finds everything else it needs from there.

Steps

1. In the assistant, start the connection. Your browser opens Nova's Connect an app page. Sign in if Nova asks you to.
2. Check the app's name at the top. If you do not recognise it, press Don't allow.
3. Under This app wants to:, untick anything you do not want it to do.
4. If you belong to more than one organization, choose one under Which organization?. An organization with AI turned off cannot be chosen.
5. If you look after an AI teammate, or you are an admin, Connect as lets you hand the assistant to that teammate instead of connecting as Yourself. Leave it on Yourself unless you set the teammate up for this.
6. Press Allow. Nova sends you back to the assistant, and the connection is ready.

What you see

• The assistant can now search help, read records and do the things you ticked. Every action it takes is written to the audit log under your name, marked as done through the app.
• Connected apps under your profile lists every assistant you have allowed, with what it can do, the organization, and when it was last used.
• An admin sees the same connections for the whole organization: in the sidebar, open Administration, choose API & Connected Apps under Integrations & API, then the Connected apps tab.

If something looks different

• The page says the link is missing the connection request: you opened the page directly. Start again from the assistant.
• The assistant asks you to connect again later: a connection renews itself while the assistant keeps using it. A fresh sign-in is needed if you disconnected it or the assistant went unused for about a month. See Disconnect an app from Nova.
