Connect a social account

Connect your company's Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, LinkedIn page, X or TikTok account so the Social Calendar can publish to it, and fix a connection that has stopped working.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Needs permission from your admin Open this page in Nova

In the sidebar, open Marketing, then Social Calendar. The page address is /social/calendar. Press Accounts in the calendar toolbar (it shows the number connected) to open the Social accounts drawer, where connections are made and repaired.

Before you start

  • Your role needs permission to manage social accounts. Without it you can still open the drawer and read it, but Nova refuses when you try to connect, reconnect or disconnect an account.
  • Have the login for the social account ready. Nova sends you to the network to sign in and approve access, then brings you back. Facebook and Instagram connect through one Meta login, and Instagram has to be a business or professional account linked to a Facebook Page.
  • A network whose card reads Publishing setup pending has not been switched on by Nova yet; its connect button is greyed out and explains that. This is not something your own admin can change.

Steps

  1. Press Accounts at the top of the calendar. The Social accounts drawer opens.
  2. For Facebook or Instagram, go to Connect Meta accounts. Under Choose what Meta should return, pick Facebook Pages or Instagram Business accounts, read Most important prerequisites, then press Continue with Meta.
  3. For any other network, find its card under Other providers. Read Before you connect, which lists what that network needs, then press its connect button, for example Connect LinkedIn, Connect X account or Connect TikTok.
  4. Your browser goes to the network. Sign in there and approve what Nova asks for. For Meta, choose the Pages or Instagram accounts you want Nova to use.
  5. You return to Nova. The account appears under Connected accounts with its handle, its Credential, its Health and, for networks with an inbox, its Last inbox sync.

To fix an account that has stopped publishing:

  1. Open the drawer and find the account under Connected accounts. Its Credential tile says when the stored credential is missing or when it expires.
  2. If the account shows Reconnect (or Reconnect with Meta), press it and sign in to the network again. If it still shows Disconnect, press Refresh token instead.
  3. Press Test connection to confirm it works.

What you see

  • Each network card shows Publishing ready when Nova can publish to it, and Inbox capable when it can also feed messages into Nova's Communications area.
  • Each connected account shows its Credential, its Health (press Test connection to refresh it) and its Last inbox sync.
  • Disconnect removes Nova's access. Scheduled posts aimed at that account will fail until it is connected again.
  • Refreshing an account's name and picture, fetching older inbox messages and reading the account's activity log are done in Administration, under Integrations & API, on Social Accounts; see Check and repair your connected social accounts.

If something looks different

  • The connect button is greyed out and reads that setup is not complete for this channel: Nova has not finished connecting that network for your workspace yet. Contact Nova support.
  • You come back from the network and nothing was added: you did not select a Page or account on the network's screen, or you cancelled. Press the connect button again.
  • A post to this account shows Failed in Target publish status: reconnect the account here, then publish the post again. See Schedule and publish a social post.
  • The Accounts button shows zero and the drawer is empty: nobody has connected anything yet.
