Find the messages an automation sends
Use the Messages page to see which automations send email or text to customers, which version is live, and open the builder to change the wording.
In the sidebar, open Settings, then choose Automation Messages under Automation. The page address is /lifecycle-automation/content. The page heading reads Templates & content strategies. It lists your automations with a link to where each one's wording is edited, so you can check the message without digging through the on/off list.
Before you start
- Your role needs permission to manage automation content. Without it the page says the templates and content strategies are unavailable.
- The wording itself is edited in the automation builder. This page is where you find the right automation and jump there.
Steps
- Under Content strategy inventory, type in Search to match by automation name, key or content family. The list updates as you type.
- Read the card for the automation you want. It shows the status chip, an Active chip with the live version number when one is published, the name and description, and a small grid with Domain, Journey, Draft version and Last update.
- To change the wording, press Open builder. The automation opens in the full builder with its message bindings ready to edit.
- To see how the message has changed over time, press View versions. The automation's overview opens with its version history.
What you see
- Cards are ordered with the most recently updated first.
- A card with a Draft version number but no Active chip has never been published, so customers do not receive it yet. When a card shows both, customers still get the Active version until the draft is published.
- The shared templates that many automations draw on are in Settings, under Templates, then Message Templates. The Message templates card on the automation Settings tab links there too. See Set automation guardrails.
If something looks different
- The page reads No content-bound automations are visible: either your search matched nothing, or no automation with a customer message has been created yet. Clear the search, or start one with Start an automation with guided setup.
- You changed the text in the builder but customers still receive the old wording: the change is in a draft. Publish the new version from the builder, then check that the automation is still On in Turn an automation on or off.
