Create an offering
Add a service customers can book, set how long it takes and how much notice it needs, and say which technicians, crews or equipment it requires.
In the sidebar, open Settings, then choose Services under Jobs & Booking. The page address is /settings/org/schedule-offerings. The page heading reads Schedule offerings.
Before you start
- An offering needs someone to do it. Add at least one schedule resource first (Add a schedule resource); the page warns "No schedulable resources yet" until you do.
- Offerings belong to the branch selected in the top bar.
- Your role needs permission to create offerings. Otherwise Add offering is missing.
Steps
-
Press Add offering. A drawer opens.
-
Type a Name customers will recognise, such as "Furnace tune-up".
-
Status starts on Active, so it can be booked right away. Choose Draft to finish it later.
-
Add a Description and pick an Offering type: Service for field work, or Product, Rental, Activity or Lodging if you sell those.
-
Optionally choose a Category to group it in lists. Type a new name to create one on the spot.
-
Under Booking mode, leave Timeslot for appointments booked by the hour. Choose Date range for a lodging or rental offering, booked by the night or the day; only those appear when someone creates a reservation or a rental, and they need lodging or rentals in your plan. Computed duration (scaffold) cannot book yet and only saves as a draft.
-
Set Duration (minutes). Add Buffer before (minutes) and Buffer after (minutes) for travel or cleanup that should block the calendar around the visit.
-
Under Booking rules, each rule shows what your organization uses today. Leave it alone to follow the organization, or click it to set a different value for this service only:
- Arrival window: the time range the customer is told, for example "Arriving between 9 and 11 AM". It starts at the booked time and applies to bookings your team makes as well as online bookings. Choose "Exact time (no window)" to promise a set time. Stays, rentals and products never get an arrival window.
- Minimum notice: the least warning you need before a booking. Online booking uses whichever is longer, your organization's or this one.
- Book up to: how far ahead customers may book. Online booking uses whichever is shorter.
- Start times offered: how often a start time is offered online.
- Online bookings per day: stops online booking for the day once reached. Online booking uses whichever is lower.
Press Use organization default under a rule to follow the organization again. Anyone who can edit the service can change its arrival window. Start times and the daily limit are online booking rules: they need per-service booking rules on your plan and access to online booking settings; without them the rule shows why it cannot change.
-
Under Requirement slots, Nova starts you with one Resource slot with Quantity 1, meaning one technician. Press Add requirement slot to need more, and set each slot's Slot type: Resource, Crew, Capacity pool or Inventory unit. Switch off Required on a slot that is nice to have. If Enable multi-slot plans is off in Schedule Policies, you see one Crew size requirement field instead.
-
Under Required skills, pick any skills the technician must hold (shown when skills are on your plan).
-
Press Create offering.
What you see
- Every slot shows "Eligible targets" with how many resources, crews, pools or units could fill it. A warning here means nobody matches yet.
- The list shows Name, Type, Booking mode, Status and Duration. Search with Search offerings; Filters narrows by status, type and booking mode. It starts on Active only; change Status to see drafts.
- Each row has Edit and Archive. Archived rows show Restore.
- The Pricing and tax settings section in the drawer sets the price and tax; see Set an offering's price and tax.
What the booking gets
- A new booking of this service gets its arrival window: this service's own choice, otherwise the branch's, otherwise the organization's online booking rule, otherwise Arrival window for new jobs in Schedule Policies.
- The sentence the customer reads matches that length. Wording written for the organization or a branch is used only when that same level also chose the length; when this service picks its own length, the customer sees the real times instead, for example "Arriving between 9 AM and 12 PM".
- The arrival window is set here, with the service. The per-service override in Online Booking availability does not change it.
- When the booking is moved, the window moves with it if Move arrival window with appointment is on; otherwise it stays put, or is dropped when the new time no longer covers it.
- Organization defaults live in Schedule Policies and Online Booking.
If something looks different
- Activity is missing from Offering type: it needs both the activities and the capacity pools features on your plan.
- Capacity pool is missing from Slot type: capacity pools are not on your plan, or Enable capacity pools is off in Schedule Policies. See Add a capacity pool.
- "Crews are required for this offering" appears at the top: a slot asks for a crew and none exist. See Create a crew.
- The list reads "No active offerings found.": nothing active exists for this branch yet.
- Depending on your organization's reason rules, archiving may first ask you to confirm and give a reason. The offering keeps its history but is no longer offered for new work. Restore brings it back as inactive.
