Move a quote or invoice to another customer
Put a quote or invoice made on the wrong customer onto the right one, after Nova checks what else would move with it and whether anything stops the move.
In the sidebar, open Sales & Billing, then Quotes or Invoices, and open the one on the wrong customer from the list.
Before you start
- Your role needs permission to move quotes or invoices between customers. Without it, Move to another customer is not in the menu.
- The quote or invoice has to be saved. The move is not offered while you are creating it.
- If the two customers are really the same person entered twice, merge the accounts instead. See Merge two accounts for the same customer.
Steps
- Open the actions menu (the three dots at the top), press See more, and choose Move to another customer.
- The window names the customer the document is on now. Under Move it to, search for the right customer and pick them.
- Wait while Nova shows Checking what this would change…. It then lists anything that stops the move, any warnings, and any linked records that would move along with the document.
- When the move is allowed, add a note under Why are you moving it? if it helps, such as paid cash or billing the other account. It is saved with the record of who moved it.
- Press the move button, which names the customer you picked. Keep it where it is closes the window and changes nothing.
What you see
- The document now sits on the new customer's account and in their billing, and both customers' balances update.
- Records Nova listed as moving along with it move too.
- Nova keeps a record of who moved it and when, with your note.
If something looks different
- The move button stays greyed out: Nova found something that stops the move. The list in the window names it. Fix that first, or leave the document where it is.
- Nova says it couldn't move the document: nothing was changed. Read the message in the window, then try again.
- The customer you want is not in the search: check the spelling, or look them up under Accounts to make sure they exist.
