Nova Help

Publish a draft or roll back to an earlier version

Understand why a new rule, destination, template or schedule does nothing until you press Publish, and how to make an earlier live version current again.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Open this page in Nova

In the sidebar, open Critical Alerts, then Setup, then Rules. The page addresses are /critical-alerts/rules, /critical-alerts/destinations, /critical-alerts/templates and /critical-alerts/schedules.

Rules, destinations, templates and schedules each have a draft and a live version. Editing changes the draft. Live signals only ever use the live version, so nothing you change takes effect until you publish. Sources, recipes and suppression windows have no separate live version; what you save is what runs, as long as its Status allows it.

Before you start

  • Your admin has to give your role permission to manage the kind of record you are publishing.

Steps

  1. Find the row. Its version line reads "Draft v1" (never published), "Live v2 · Draft changes pending" (edited since the last publish) or "Live v2" (nothing waiting).
  2. Press Publish on the row.
  3. Nova confirms with a message such as "Rule published." and the version line shows the new live number.

To go back to an earlier version:

  1. Press Edit on the row.
  2. Scroll to Version history at the bottom of the drawer.
  3. Press Make live on the version you want. Nova confirms with "Rule live version updated." (or the matching message for a destination, template or schedule).

What you see

  • Publish is greyed out when the row is already live with no pending changes.
  • On Schedules, the Filters button has a Publish state filter, so you can list everything with changes pending.
  • Each row also carries the Status set in its form. Set it to Disabled to take the record out of use without deleting it.

If something looks different

  • The alert uses old wording after you edited the template: you saved the draft but did not press Publish.
  • The page is missing from the sidebar: your role cannot manage that kind of record.
  • You published by mistake: open Version history and press Make live on the previous version.
