Activate, deactivate or copy a discount
Turn a discount on so customers can use it, switch it off when the promotion ends, or copy an existing discount as the starting point for a new one.
In the sidebar, open Settings, then choose Discounts under Sales & Billing. The page address is /settings/org/billing/discounts.
Before you start
- A Draft discount is invisible to customers and staff until it is activated. Activating runs Nova's checks, so a discount with a missing value or an impossible percent will refuse.
- Deactivating stops new uses only. Quotes and invoices that already carry the discount keep it.
- Your role needs the activate permission to turn a discount on, the deactivate permission to turn it off, and the create permission to copy one.
Steps
To turn a discount on:
- Press the discount's row to open it.
- Press Activate at the top of the panel. The row's Status reads Active.
To turn a discount off:
- Open the discount and press Deactivate. The Status reads Inactive.
- To stop only one code and keep the rest of the discount running, scroll to Discount Codes and press Deactivate next to that code instead.
To copy a discount:
- Open the discount you want to copy and press Clone. Nova shows Discount definition cloned. and a new Draft appears in the list with "copy" after the name.
- Open the copy, change the Discount name, the code and anything else that differs, then press Save discount. Activate it when it is ready.
What you see
- Under Filters, Status narrows the list to Draft, Active, Inactive or Retired, and Class to Automatic, Code, Manual, Source-derived or Recurring.
- The counters above the list (Definitions, Codes, Applications, Redemptions) tell you how much a discount has been used before you switch it off.
- A discount with an Ends date stops on its own. You only need Deactivate to end one early.
If something looks different
- Activate refuses with a message: fix what the message names, usually the value or the schedule, then try again.
- Activate, Deactivate or Clone is missing: your role lacks that permission. Ask your admin.
- You are done with a discount for good: set its Status to Retired in the Basics section and press Save discount. Nova keeps it for history, and the Status filter lets you find it again.
