Find your way around a record page
Every customer, work order, project, task and other record opens as the same kind of page. What the details panel, the tabs and the actions menu do, and how to get more room.
Open any record from its list (for example All Accounts under Accounts, or Work Orders under Operations), from search, or from a link on another record. Customers, work orders, projects, tasks, service assets, portfolios and timesheets all open as the same kind of page. An appointment booking has a simpler page of its own (Work on an appointment booking).
What is on the page
- The details panel on the left holds the facts about the record in sections: its details, and the people, places and equipment linked to it. Each section shows a count; press a section's name to open or close it. Small buttons beside a count add something straight away, such as Add contact or Add location on a customer.
- The tabs across the top hold the work: Notes, Files, Activity and the tabs that belong to that kind of record. The tab you are on is part of the page address, so a link to a tab opens on that tab.
- The actions menu (the Actions button with three dots) holds everything you can do to the record.
The actions menu
- Press Actions. The everyday actions come first: Add note, Create work order, Upload file, Add contact and Edit, depending on the record.
- On a long menu, press See more for the rest. See less folds them away again.
- Actions that archive or remove something sit last, on their own, in red.
- An action you cannot use right now is greyed out; point at it to read why.
Below the actions sit the page controls: Collapse details (or Expand details) to give the tabs the whole width, Refresh to reload the record, and Saved views where the record has them.
Archived records
An archived customer or task still opens in full. A banner across the top says it is archived and when, and offers Restore. Until someone restores it, you can read every tab but not change it; notes can still be added.
Making the page your own
- Anyone can collapse the details panel; it remembers your choice.
- An admin can change which tabs a record shows and in what order, for every record of a kind (Set the default tabs for record dashboards) or for one record (Change the tabs on one customer or record).
- An admin can turn folders on or off for one record's notes, files and access details (Turn folders on or off for one customer or record).
Return from a drawer
Record actions such as adding a contact, customizing tabs and changing folder settings open with their own addresses. Back returns to the record without losing its place. Opening a preview or Help from an editor keeps that editor underneath; Back returns to it. If you try to leave unsaved changes, Nova asks before discarding them.
A link to a saved file or detail can be reopened directly. It does not grant access to someone who could not already view the record. Newly typed fields and files still waiting to upload are not saved by copying the address.
