Add and publish a legal page

Write your privacy policy, terms of service, booking policy or any custom page, choose where its link appears, and publish a version customers can read.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Needs permission from your admin Open this page in Nova

In the sidebar, open Settings, then choose Legal & Policies under Website & Forms. The page address is /settings/org/legal-pages. The page title reads Legal & Public Policies.

Every legal page keeps a draft you edit and a published version customers read. Publishing freezes the draft as the next version; older versions stay on file as evidence of what people agreed to.

Before you start

  • Your role needs permission to read legal pages to open the list, permission to write them to add or edit, and a separate permission to publish. Without publish permission Publish stays off.
  • Nova sets up default pages such as Privacy Policy and Terms of Service when your organization is created. Look at those before adding a new one; you may only need to edit them.

Steps

  1. Press Add page at the top of the list. The Add legal page drawer opens.
  2. Type a Title. Leave Slug (the end of the public web address) blank and Nova makes one from the title.
  3. Pick a Type, such as Booking Policy or Custom Page, and add a short Summary.
  4. Under Placements, press the places the link should appear. Public footer is already on; the others are Booking footer, Booking acceptance, Intake footer and Portal footer.
  5. Turn on Require acceptance on submit if customers must tick a box agreeing to this page before they book online. The box only appears on the booking page, and only when the page also has the Booking acceptance placement.
  6. Press Create draft. The page opens in the full editor.
  7. Write the page in the editor. You can also change Visibility, the Acceptance label customers see next to the tick box, a Review due date and the Sort order among your other pages.
  8. Press Save draft. Placements and visibility take effect at once; the title and wording change for customers only when you publish.
  9. Press Publish. In the Publish legal version dialog, write a Change summary, set Effective at and Next review due if you want, and press Publish version.

What you see

  • The list shows each page with its Type, Status (Draft, Published or Archived), Placements, whether acceptance is required, the published version number and a Review state such as Due soon or Overdue.
  • Copy link and Open in the editor header give you the public web address once the page is published.
  • Version history lists every version; one button copies an older version back into the draft. Consent evidence lists each time a customer ticked the box: when, and which version.
  • A default page shows Review recommended because Nova published it automatically during setup. Read it, make it yours, and publish again. The publish dialog asks you to confirm Default policy reviewed.
  • Archive hides a page from customers. Default pages cannot be archived.

If something looks different

  • Publish is off and says to save the draft first: you have unsaved edits. Press Save draft, then publish.
  • Publish is off because Visibility is Disabled: switch it to Public link after publish.
  • The publish dialog says the draft matches the current version: nothing changed since the last publish. Turn on Allow unchanged publish only if you really want a new version.
  • The top of the list warns Your customer portal has no policy links: see Show your policies in the customer portal.
  • A page placed on Intake footer does not show on your online forms: intake forms do not show policy links today.
