Nova Help

Choose how and when Nova notifies you

Pick which ways Nova can reach you (in Nova, browser, email, text, call, phone app), turn topics on or off, set quiet hours, and decide which alerts pop up on screen.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Open this page in Nova

Select your picture or initials at the right end of the top bar, then select Alerts in your account menu. You can also press the gear in the bell panel, or open Profile and choose the Notifications tab. The page address is /profile/notifications.

Every switch saves as soon as you change it; a Saved. note confirms it. These choices are yours only.

Steps

  1. Under Apply changes to, keep All workspaces by default. That sets your choices everywhere you work in Nova. Pick the other option only when one company needs different settings from the rest.
  2. Open How Nova alerts you and switch on the ways Nova may reach you: In-app, Browser push, Email, Text message, Voice call and Mobile push. Each card says where it goes, such as your primary email or phone.
  3. For browser pop-ups, switch on Browser push, then press Enable this browser and allow notifications when your browser asks. Send test push checks it works. Do this once on each computer you use.
  4. Open a topic section (for example Notification topics), then a group, and switch whole topics on or off. Under each topic, switch the individual ways off that you do not want for it, such as email for a busy topic.
  5. Open In-app summary & quiet hours. Under Summary frequency, pick Daily summary or Weekly summary to bundle less important items, or Off to see each one.
  6. Switch on Use quiet hours to pause email, text, calls and push overnight. Set your Timezone, then set each window's Start time, End time and Active days, using Weekdays, Weekends or Every day as shortcuts. Add Window adds another.
  7. Open In-app heads-up alerts to decide what pops up over your screen. Heads-up cards turns pop-ups on or off, Urgent fallback alerts keeps urgent ones coming, and Preview detail chooses Compact preview or Expanded preview. Show test notification shows an example.

What you see

  • In-app always keeps a record in the bell and the notification center, even during quiet hours. Turning it off asks you to confirm.
  • Organization coverage matters if you belong to more than one company: pick which companies can still alert you while you work in another.
  • Email inbox visibility and Messaging inbox visibility choose which shared inboxes can show up in your notifications.
  • Attention audio sets the sounds Nova plays in your browser.
  • Under Personal communications workflow, choose whether you follow a conversation when someone mentions you (Auto-follow when I am mentioned) or after you hand it off (Keep following after I hand work off), then press Save personal defaults.

If something looks different

  • A card says to add a primary email, a text-capable number or a voice-capable phone: add it on the Contacts tab first (Add, verify or change your email and phone).
  • Browser push says This browser does not support push. or that permission is blocked: allow notifications for Nova in your browser's site settings, then press Enable this browser again.
  • Browser notifications cannot start or checking them fails: check your internet connection, then press Refresh status. If alerts still do not arrive, press Repair browser. Nova explains a failed attempt so you can try again; you can keep using the rest of Nova.
  • Mobile push asks you to link a Nova mobile app: sign in to the app on your phone first.
  • Android opens organization workspaces. Platform and enterprise consoles and their alerts stay in the web app. Email push tells you about new incoming messages and replies. Mailbox status, refresh and administrative changes do not send phone push alerts.
  • In the Android app, open Settings, then Phone notifications to check whether Android has blocked alerts or silenced a category. To change sounds, open Phone, choose Calls and press the sound settings button. Under Phone sounds, choose calls, texts, email, voicemail or another category to open its Android sound and vibration settings. Android sound choices take priority over your Nova sound profile; phone volume, Silent mode and Do Not Disturb also apply. Ongoing-call and background status notices stay quiet. Text alerts follow their topic defaults until you change them.
  • Some cards show company-wide voice and escalation settings: only admins can change those, and they apply to everyone. Others see them read-only.
