Create an asset profile
Build the reusable rule set for one kind of equipment, its required documents, meters, kit parts, supplies, checklists and service programs, then publish it so assets can be created from it.
In the sidebar, open Settings, then choose Asset Profiles under Equipment & Fleet. The page address is /assets/profiles. The heading reads Operational Asset Profiles. A profile is the reusable rule set for one kind of equipment: the documents it must carry, the meters it tracks, the kit parts and supplies it should hold, and the checklists and service programs that keep it ready. Every asset is created from a profile.
Before you start
- Viewing needs permission to view operational assets. Creating, saving and publishing profiles need the asset class create, update and publish permissions. Without them the builder opens read-only.
- Profiles belong to the whole organization. Set the branch picker to All branches first; from a single branch, or if your role only covers some branches, Nova refuses to save with a message about organization-wide access.
- Profiles are versioned. A published version never changes; to alter it you create a draft version and publish that.
Steps
- Press New profile at the top of the page. The builder opens at
/assets/profiles/newunder New Asset Profile. - Under Profile definition, type a Profile key (letters, numbers and underscores, such as "trailer_core"; it cannot change later), a Profile name and a Profile kind. Set the Category and Asset kind it applies to and add a Description.
- Under Required contained assets and kits, press Add contained asset rule for each part the asset must contain, such as a drawbar kit, with a class key, category or kind to match and a Minimum count.
- Under Supply requirements, press Add supply rule, choose the item under Select supply item, and type the Minimum, Target and Reorder quantity.
- Under Document and meter requirements, press Add document for each paper the asset must carry and Add meter for each reading you track, such as odometer or hours.
- Under Default checklists and service programs, press Add checklist and Add service program for the inspections and recurring service the asset needs, with their Cadence days. Tick Blocks operation when failed on a checklist that should keep the asset off the road.
- Under Readiness settings, choose the Dispatch policy (Strict, Guided or Advisory) and the Warning window days, which is how many days before something is due the asset starts showing a warning.
- Press Create profile. Nova saves a draft and reopens it in its own builder, where Save draft saves later changes.
- When it is right, press Publish profile and confirm with Publish profile in the prompt. The version becomes the current one, the previous published version is marked superseded, and classes linked to the old version move to this one.
What you see
- The Profile Registry table lists every profile with its Version, Scope, Requirements and Updated date, plus Create asset, Builder, Classes and Setup actions per row. Filter by Status, Profile kind, Category, Asset kind and Version scope (Current only or All versions).
- In the builder, Validation and actions lists what is missing, for example "Profile name is required." Resolved preview shows what an asset created from this version would inherit. Version history compares versions.
- A published or superseded version opens read-only with a blue note; press Create draft version to change it. Archive profile retires a profile after asking why.
If something looks different
- Create profile or Save draft stays off: your role lacks the create or update permission, or Validation and actions still lists a problem.
- You want to use the profile now: press Create asset on its row, or see Create an operational asset. Drafts are offered there too; archived profiles are not.
- The same profiles can also be managed in one form under Asset Setup: see Set up operational assets.
