See your finance numbers at a glance
Open the Finance Overview to see open receivables, overdue money, invoices sent or paid, payments collected and statement results for a date range, then jump into the detailed reports.
In the sidebar, open Reports, then Finance Overview. The page address is /insights/finance.
Before you start
- Your admin has to give your role permission to view finance reporting. Without it the page shows an access message instead of numbers.
- The page opens on the last 30 days. Every number on it follows the filters you set, so check the date range first.
Steps
- Under Active filters, set Date range (start) and Date range (end). The page reloads as soon as you change a date.
- To narrow the numbers, pick a Branch, an Effective account (the account that gets the bill) or a Payer account (statements).
- If you bill in more than one currency, choose one under Currency focus. Until you do, totals stay split by currency and the page says Multiple currencies in scope.
- Read the cards under Executive KPIs and Collections performance.
- Under Drilldowns, press A/R analytics, Invoice analytics, Payment analytics, Statement analytics or Statement delivery issues to open the detailed report. Each report opens with its own default filters, so set the date range again there.
- Press Reset filters to go back to the default view.
What you see
- Total open A/R is everything customers still owe, with the number of accounts underneath. Overdue A/R is the part that is past due.
- Total invoiced (with how many invoices underneath) and Payments collected cover the date range, each with a line comparing it to the period just before.
- Unapplied cash is money received but not yet matched to an invoice. Available credits is credit customers can still use.
- Statements sent and Delivery failures show how statement sending went. The failure count covers your whole organization for the same number of days, not just the filtered branch or account.
- Statement to payment, Post-statement payments, Avg days to pay and Collections effectiveness tell you whether statements are turning into payments.
- Chips at the top of the filter card repeat the scope you have set.
- Money on its way appears when your business takes card payments with Nova Payments and your role can see bank deposits. Pending and ready adds the card money Stripe is still holding to the money that is ready for deposit, and the line underneath splits the two. Next deposit shows the day the next deposit should reach your bank, with the amount; "About" in front of the date means Nova worked the day out from your deposit schedule because no deposit has started yet. These two numbers are what is happening right now: the date range, branch and account filters do not change them. Press Open Nova Payments to see the full picture on the Nova Payments Overview tab, or See deposits if your role cannot open the Nova Payments page.
If something looks different
- A card shows
--: the numbers have not loaded yet, or nothing matches the currency you chose. - No finance activity yet: nothing in the date range. Widen the dates or clear the account filters.
- Check the date range: the end date is before the start date.
- Some finance analytics could not be loaded: change a filter or refresh the page to try again.
- Money on its way is missing: your business does not take card payments with Nova Payments yet, your plan does not include the payments finance tools, or your role cannot see bank deposits.
- Money on its way says it couldn't load the money on its way from Stripe: press Try again. The rest of the page is not affected.
- A card says to select a currency for trend deltas: you have several currencies in scope, so the compare-to-prior-period line waits until you pick one under Currency focus.
