Nova Help

Choose your menu size

Pick Simple, Standard or Everything to decide how much of Nova shows in the sidebar for everyone in your company. Pages never move between sizes.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Open this page in Nova

In the sidebar, open Administration, then choose Sidebar Navigation under Workspace, or select Customize sidebar (the sliders button) at the bottom of the sidebar. The page address is /settings/org/sidebar-navigation. Menu size is at the top.

Before you start

  • Your role needs permission to change navigation settings. Everyone else sees the choice but cannot change it.
  • The size applies to everyone in your company. People still only see pages their role and your plan allow.

Steps

  1. Under Menu size, read the three choices. Each card lists the sections it shows.
  2. Select Simple for the pages a small team uses every day: leads and customers, the Schedule, work orders, projects, portfolios, tasks, quotes, invoices, payments and messages. Contacts stays available in larger menu sizes.
  3. Select Standard for every part of Nova your plan includes, without the specialist pages most teams never open.
  4. Select Everything to show every page, including advanced tools for larger teams and administrators.
  5. Nova saves the choice straight away and everyone's sidebar updates.

What you see

  • A page is always in the same place. A bigger menu only adds pages; it never moves the ones you know.
  • Settings and Administration always show every setting you can open, whatever the size. Their search finds anything.
  • New companies start on Simple.

If something looks different

  • A note says your company uses a custom menu: the size applies when you switch back to the Nova menu, and a new custom menu starts from it. See Customize the sidebar menu.
  • A page you need is hidden in Simple: search for it from the top bar, or switch to Standard.
