Stop emails or texts from a company

Stop a company's texts by replying STOP, get them back with START, and ask the company to stop the kinds of emails or reminders you no longer want.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Open this page in Nova

The emails and texts in this section come from the company you are working with. It sends them through Nova, from its own name, phone number and email address. How you stop them depends on whether it is a text or an email.

Steps

To stop texts:

  1. Reply to any text from the company with the single word STOP.
  2. The company can no longer text your number: appointment notices, reminders and document links stop. Emails are not affected.
  3. To get texts again, reply START to the same number.

To stop the company's automatic emails:

  1. Open one of its automatic emails, such as an appointment reminder, and choose "Stop these emails" at the bottom. Some mail apps also show an Unsubscribe button beside the sender.
  2. Confirm on the page that opens. The company's automatic emails to that address stop. Invoices, receipts and emails a person at the company writes to you still arrive.

To stop only some messages, or to change how you hear from the company:

  1. Contact the company by replying to one of its emails, or through the contact link at the bottom of it.
  2. Say which messages you no longer want. The company can turn off, just for you, the appointment booked, changed or cancelled notices, appointment reminders, the thank-you when the work is done, review requests, quote follow-ups, invoice reminders, and agreement signing reminders.
  3. You can also ask to get everything by email only, or by text only.

What you see

  • The first time the company texts you about an appointment, a short text comes first: the company will text you about your appointments, and "Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
  • These service emails offer a contact link for the company. The footer identifies the business, includes its mailing address when configured, and ends with a small “Powered by NovaBMP” credit.

If something looks different

  • Messages you still need, such as a sign-in link, a verification code you asked for, a receipt, or a quote or invoice the company sends you by hand, are not automatic reminders. The company sends them because of something you or they did.
  • You replied STOP but still get emails: STOP only works for texts. Use "Stop these emails" at the bottom of an automatic email, or ask the company.
  • A reminder came after you paid or answered: reminders stop as soon as the company records the payment or your answer. One may already have been on its way.
