Use a verification code you received

What each one-time code email or text is for (signing in, seeing your whole account, booking online, opening an agreement), how long it lasts, and what to do if you did not ask for one.

A one-time code proves it is really you. It only arrives right after you, or someone using your email or phone, asks for one on a page. Type it on the page where you asked for it, and never share it with anyone, including someone who calls claiming to be the company.

Steps

  1. Find the code in the email or text. Match it to the page you are on:
    • Signing in to the portal with a second step: the subject is the company's name followed by "verification code", or a text with the same words. It lasts 10 minutes. You can also choose a phone call that reads it out.
    • Seeing everything on your account after opening one shared document: the subject is "Your access code". It lasts 15 minutes.
    • Booking online: the subject is "Your booking verification code". The text version says "Your Nova booking verification code is" followed by the code. It lasts 10 minutes.
    • Opening an agreement to sign: the subject is the agreement's title followed by "verification code". It lasts 10 minutes.
  2. Type the code on the page that asked for it and confirm. See Sign in to the portal or Book online with a company.

What you see

  • Codes are 6 digits, and each one works once.
  • The booking text names Nova, the system the company uses, rather than the company itself.

If something looks different

  • The code expired: go back to the page and ask for a new one, for example with Send a new code or Resend.
  • No code arrived: wait a minute, check your junk folder, and make sure the company has your current email and phone.
  • You got a code you did not ask for: someone typed your email or number, perhaps by mistake. Ignore it; nothing happens without the code. If it keeps happening, change your portal password and contact the company.
  • Codes are sent because someone asked for one, so opting out of reminders does not stop them.
