Nova Help

Work on a portfolio

What a portfolio's page shows, how to follow the projects in it, how to edit or archive it, and every action in its Actions menu.

Updated in release 0.0.1 Needs permission from your admin

In the sidebar, open Projects & Tasks, then Portfolios, and open a portfolio from the list. The page address is /work/portfolios/ followed by the portfolio and the tab you are on. It is laid out like every record page (see Find your way around a record page).

What you see

  • The summary strip: how many Projects, Tasks and Work Orders the portfolio holds, and when it was Updated.
  • The details panel on the left:
    • Portfolio details: the Portfolio Number, Status, when it was Created, Updated and Archived, and its Branch.
    • Projects: the first few projects in the portfolio.
    • Delivery rollup: Active projects, Completed projects, Tasks and Work orders across all of them.
    • Additional details: your organization's own fields.

The tabs

A project joins a portfolio from the project itself: pick the portfolio in the project's Portfolio field (Create a project).

The Actions menu

  • Back to portfolios, Add note and Upload file.
  • Edit portfolio opens /work/portfolios/ followed by the portfolio and /edit. Change the Name, the Portfolio number (unless it is locked) and the Description, then press Save. Nova takes you back to the portfolio.
  • Save as template saves the portfolio and its structure as a portfolio template.
  • Customize tabs (Change the tabs on one customer or record).
  • Archive portfolio, last and in red. Archive this portfolio? asks for a reason if your organization wants one. An archived portfolio shows Restore portfolio at the top of the menu.

If something looks different

  • Edit portfolio or Archive portfolio is missing: your role cannot update or archive portfolios.
  • Save as template is missing: portfolio templates are off, or your role cannot create them.
  • Manage project columns is missing: your role cannot change table columns.
